After an informative and productive period of studying and practicing materials in a variety of software, I have put together a scene in Unreal Engine 5 to demonstrate some of my best work. This small island is home to a few reclusive seafarers that prefer to hide away in the quaint sandy archipelago, trading wares that come through.
Every model and material in this scene is mine, other than the palm trees, which are from the Unreal Engine marketplace, and I've incorporated procedural Designer materials as well as specifically created Painter materials. I feel like I've improved a lot in this study of materials, but I don't intend to stop working or improving here. The material creation workflow is intuitive, satisfying, and fun, so I plan on continuing in a variety of styles.
